Boyle says government reforms are privatising community services

?Green Party Cork City South East candidate, Dan Boyle, says among the measures that the government claims are 'reforms' of localgovernment, but which in fact take local democracy further away from people,are proposals that amount to a privatisation of community developmentservices.

"With the bringing to an end of local development andpartnership companies the government will be seeking tenders from privatecompanies to provide community development services," Dan Boyle claimed.

"This amounts toa privatisation of community development and seems as far as it can be from thetype of infrastructure needed to assist, encourage and develop communityorganisations which largely voluntarily continue to provide an overwhelmingamount of social services in this country."
