Green Party welcomes resolution of ESB pensions dispute

GreenParty Energy spokesperson, Ossian Smyth, today welcomed the news that thethreatened strike by ESB had been called off. Smyth commented, "This is excellentnews for both households and businesses, and brings invaluable certainty inthis critical time leading up to Christmas. Safe, secure and reliable energysupplies are key to our attractiveness as a location for Foreign DirectInvestment and an essential service for thousands of families who would haveotherwise been left in the dark. While pensions are a genuine concern to allworkers, this disagreement over accounting should never have threatened thepublic in this way, and illustrates the need for better management of our energysupply by this government."
