Greens: Rural broadband plan in disarray following Eir withdrawal

31st January 2018

Reacting to the reports that Eir is to withdraw from the tendering process for the Government’s National Broadband Plan, Green Party Leader Eamon Ryan TD commented:

“To lose one bidder for the national broadband scheme was unfortunate. To lose two is carelessness. The Government are asleep at the wheel, and the whole scheme has been thrown into disarray.

“This scheme is vital for the development of rural Ireland, and it is critical that the Government gets it right. This is a serious setback, and the Government must outline a clear, comprehensive response to Eir’s withdrawal.”
