Dundalk-Carlingford, Louth County Council

Mark is the owner of the well known music venue the Spirit Store in Dundalk which has hosted a range of musical acts such as Snow Patrol and Christy Moore.

As the first Green Party Councillor to be elected in Louth in 2004, he was re-elected in 2009. He was appointed to Seanad Eireann in February 2010.

Mark plans to shape the new Development Plan for Dundalk, committing the Town to being carbon neutral by 2020 and successfully proposed the first Business Improvement District company outside of Dublin to employ a Commercial Town Centre Manager with a mandate to regenerate the traditional shopping streets.

He also established a unique Local Authority Response to drug abuse in North Louth and chairs the Turas Aftercare Counselling Service.

Mark was a founder member of the STAD campaign and a plaintiff for 11 years in a court action to stop nuclear reprocessing at Sellafield.
