The Green Party believes in a systematic approach to healthcare, built around patient empowerment and preventative methods, supported by universal healthcare accessed on the basis of medical need and supported by information technology so that our welfare can be maintained economically, equitably and ecologically.
We will achieve this by prioritising environmental (protecting natural resources) and community approaches to preventing mental and physical health problems, (e.g obesity) and caring for chronic illness by empowering people and their carers to take control, supported by motivated health care practitioners and management systems at all levels.
