The Green Party is today celebrating the result of Malcolm Noonan in the Seanad Agricultural Panel, after he topped the poll and secured a seat on the first count. This doubles the Green Party parliamentary party as he joins Party Leader Roderic O'Gorman TD in the Oireachtas.

Roderic O'Gorman TD, Leader of the Green Party, stated:

"Malcolm's election to the Seanad is a testament to his unwavering dedication to fostering a greener and more sustainable Ireland. His extensive experience and leadership will be pivotal in advancing Green initiatives to promote sustainable agricultural practices and environmental conservation."

Greens also saw very strong results in the University Panel elections yesterday, with Cllr. Eva Dowling trebling her vote to 9% and placing fourth in the NUI Seanad election. In the Trinity Seanad election Ossian Smyth, and Cllr. Hazel Chu achieved 16% of the first preferences between them, with Hazel very narrowly missing out on a seat in the last count. We thank all three candidates for their dedication to Green values and their efforts to bring fresh, progressive voices to the Seanad.

The Green Party looks forward to Senator Noonan playing a constructive role in the Seanad, continuing his work in advocating for nature protection and a fairer society.
