Statement on the killing of Alex Pretti

The Green Party condemns the killing of Alex Pretti by ICE in Minneapolis

Speaking earlier today, Green Party Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Cllr Janet Horner said:

"It is clear that ICE has violated the law in the USA in recent weeks. It is abhorrent for states to perpetrate violence and terror against their own citizens, including children wherever it happens in the world and must be condemned. 

The scenes of ICE agents killing people in public view has sent shockwaves around the world and caused fear and terror among many. 

We commend all those who are protesting and supporting vulnerable people in the US.Ireland has a close historical relationship with the USA but we need to be clear that our friendship is with the American people who are standing up against tyranny and not with the regime that is perpetrating it."
