Adam Ó Ceallaigh
Being young is a great advantage, since we see the world from a new perspective
As your representative for Ballinamore, I will bring boundless energy to address issues that matter. Passionate about progress, I pledge to champion your concerns and drive positive change.
SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT
In Leitrim, I envision a future where accessible public transport connects everyone, facilitating safe commutes to schools, shops, and local events. Enhanced transport infrastructure empowers our youth to reach college and provides our elderly with newfound independence, strengthening our sense of community.
COMMUNITY
The strong sense of place we have in Leitrim comes from strong communities like Drumshanbo, Ballinamore, and Carrigallen. We can re-energise our towns by creating community workspaces, supporting Tidy Towns initiatives, and redeveloping vacant or derelict properties, fostering a sense of togetherness.
EQUALITY
Leitrim embraces diversity and inclusion, as demonstrated by our warm welcome to people from Ukraine and beyond. I'm committed to giving a voice to those often underrepresented in politics, ensuring that everyone's needs and concerns are heard and addressed in our county.
Experience
I am the grandson of Paddy and Betty McManus of High Street, Drumshanbo. I am in my final year at Trinity College, Dublin studying for a degree in Geography and Politics, and I am currently involved locally with the Leitrim For All campaign. Through my involvement with Scouting, I have brought many young people to the area to enjoy the outdoors and last August I organised the European Green Party Summer Camp bringing people from nine countries to the shores of Lough Allen. My family has a long history of welcoming visitors to the area, a tradition which I am proud to continue. Going forward, I hope to expand my contribution to the local community, in many different ways.
