Sustainable development provides for everyone. A rising tide lifts all boats.

My Vision for Carlow

Our actions matter at a local, national and international level. Our relationship with nature needs to change, our economic model needs to be fundamentally altered and above all, we must be united in our common humanity. We are all important and we can all make a difference.

My priorities

Susatinable Futures - I will work to ensure the choices being made now do not negatively affect future generations and that sustainability is at the heart of policy. This means:
Functional transport links inc. cycle lanes while working to the 10 minute town model
Working to lift the county average energy rating with Sustainable Energy
Communities and improving access to other clean energy technologies
Ensuring the preservation of and access to nature, clean air and water.

Resiliant Communities- Our communities are struggling. I will work to ensure that in our communities
everyone is provided an opportunity to realise their full potential. This means:
Working with groups to assess their needs
Delivering an Access and Inclusion Officer
Seeing that economic development does not come at the expense of social or environmental needs

Equitable Housing-
Access to housing that is of good quality is a human right. I'll work to ensure that there is equitable access to housing, and that those homes are fit for a lifetime. This means:
Tackling vacancy and dereliction
Easy access to grants and schemes
More social housing

My Experience

I grew up, and now live and work in Carlow. I moved to study a degree in Environmental Biology and then to Sweden to pursue a Masters in Sustainable Development. Carlow has always been home and I now use this education to help build Carlows sustainable future. Beginning my activism as a teenager, I was a member of Amnesty, Friends of the Earth and other international groups. I have been an Environmental Rep with the Public Participation network for the last 5 years. I am a founding member of the Carlow Environmental Network and The Zero waste Festival Ireland. I work in the area of environmental education and wildflower horticulture. I also prioritise time outside all of this to enjoy relaxing with my local kayak club and exploring the outdoors with my husband and dog.
