Introduced pilot scheme to create a Basic Income for artists

The Green Party launched this pilot to recognise the need for security and supports to be in place to retain the talent and experience of artists and art workers. In doing so we can continue to sustain and grow Ireland’s reputation in creative talent.

The scheme was launched in April 2022 and attracted over 9,000 applications. Payments to the 2,000 recipients has now been in place for over a year and analysis on the research project has begun. This will assess the impact of the guaranteed income for 2,000 artists and creative arts workers in Ireland who will receive €325 per week for three years.
