Senator Pauline O’Reilly appointed Green Party director of elections
The Green Party is pleased to announce today (October 29) that Senator Pauline O’Reilly will take on the role of director of elections for the party in the upcoming general election. Senator O’Reilly is the chair of the Green Party and a candidate in Galway West. She has a long history as an environmental and social justice activist as well as being the party’s education spokesperson.
She will organise the Green Party’s national campaign as it prepares for one of the most crucial elections in the country’s history.
As director of elections, Senator O’Reilly will oversee the party’s electoral strategy and efforts to ensure to the next Dáil has a strong Green voice. A longtime champion of climate action and social equity, she brings strong experience and vision to the role.
The Green Party is running 43 candidates in the general election, one in every constituency. The candidates come from a diverse range of backgrounds and a majority of candidates are women. In total, 23 (53%) of the candidates are women and 20 (47%) are men. A full list of the candidates is available here.

“I am honoured to be appointed to lead our election effort for what is going to be a pivotal election. The Green Party has used its influence in Government to push for serious climate action, nature restoration and sustainable development. We will run a candidate in every constituency to bring the Green message to every corner of Ireland. It’s easy for politicians to talk about change, but only the Green Party has delivered real change.”
